First off a big happy New Year to all our readers and followers on facebook and twitter, hope your are all well.
Review of 2012 – What a ride it’s been
So we have been busy this year, we have updated the website to make it easier to find content and linked it up to our facebook page and youtube channel.
We have filmed talks for you at Sunrise Off Grid Festival, Sunrise Festival, Cloudcuckooland Festival, Bristol Green Week, Bristol Radical History Group Events, Bristol Radical Film Festival, Small is beautiful festival. We hope you have enjoyed them as much as we did, we aim to repeat this again this year so look forward to loads more talks coming your way. We would also like to thank all these great festivals and people for allowing us to film the great talks they put on.
We also put on our own talks. Steve talked about his life as a New Age Traveller, the benefits of urban permaculture, asked the question is permaculture political as well as showing people how to make rocket stoves, raised beds and bread amongst other things. Mike also did talks on the importance of radical history and the commons as well as activist film making. Steve also showed you how to make cheap cider.
We also helped to curate a radical history day at Sunrise Off Grid Festival as well as helping run the Cloudcuckooland Talks area, which was a privilege and a honour.
We have also started to aggregate the articles we post onto facebook onto the site under our good articles sections, for example see the commons one here.
Guest posters have also contributed articles on a range of topics, which has been great and we thank them for there contributions.
So what have we got planned for 2013
2013 is going to be the year of development for Permanent Culture Now.
New essentials series
We are going to be more focused on the website with a new essentials series, which will be where we take really good films and articles from the web and archive them here for you to easily find, the first couple of these type of posts are already up online, see the Occupy Sandy post and Holmgrens talk on Beyond Sustainability. The reason for doing this is to build up an archive of the most important posts we find online that have a lasting relevance.
New links pages
New links to other great projects pages, we spend a lot of time looking at other great projects and want to share them with you, as we do through facebook, but as we can’t post everything great up what we are doing on the site is setting up pages for you that link to some of the best sites online and are constantly updated with there new posts, this helps us provide you with up to date information in one place. So you can come to PCN and get the latest posts in one place rather than having to go to the sites separately. We have been testing this out with our favourite commons sites here
New Email List
We have had an email list set up for a while now, but have not been using it, this will all change this year as we will now email out to people regularly to let them know what is going on at Permanent Culture Now.
New art and society sections
We are planning two new areas to cover in 2013. First up is a new art section that will look at the role of art and social change and the importance of art in building a sustainable world. Secondly we are developing a society section which is more focused on current topics and news that is relevant to the day.
More guest posts
We want to get more of you writing for us, so if you have something to say which is relevant for Permanent culture now, then get in contact here.
Steve’s practical permaculture videos series
We have just been editing down some short films that we shot last year. So you can look forward to short films on seed bombs, raised beds and permaculture plot design amongst others in the coming months.
New guide to how to use the site
We will also be producing a guide on how to use the site, that shows you how to find the information you need.
Two new series for new year
Steve has been busy working on an Occupy Permaculture series, Reclaiming our food series and many other new posts for you to enjoy. We also are looking at ways of making information more visual and will be using even more film and presentation formats in the coming year.
A big thank you to all of you
We would like to say a big thank you to all the people who have followed us on facebook, twitter and through the website, we hope that it has helped you in your life and it is the reason we run this project. We hope to meet more of you in person next year and hope you have a great 2013 and that Permanent Culture Now can help you to change your life for the better. Take care and take it easy. Remember we are the many and the creators of history.
